Toyota is bringing back the Land Cruiser Commercial (LCV) to the UK, and this time, it’s got an electrified twist. Scheduled to go on sale in August 2025 with deliveries expected shortly after, the new Land Cruiser LCV is built for those who need a serious utility vehicle—now with added efficiency.

A Familiar Engine, Now Electrified
At its core, the new LCV sticks with Toyota’s trusted 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which produces 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. But new to the mix is a 48V mild hybrid system. This setup includes a compact electric motor-generator, a lithium-ion battery, and a DC-DC converter, offering an extra 16 bhp and 65 Nm.
It’s not a full hybrid—there’s no EV-only driving mode—but it improves fuel efficiency, enhances responsiveness, and smooths out the stop-start experience, especially in urban or fleet-heavy driving

Still a Land Cruiser at Heart
Despite the hybrid boost, Toyota promises the LCV’s legendary durability and off-road capability are fully intact. Ground clearance, suspension travel, and a 700 mm wading depth remain unchanged. And the hybrid components are smartly packaged out of harm’s way—crucial for rural routes and rough tracks.
Utility With Comfort
The new LCV isn’t stripped back, either. It comes loaded with standard features that would feel at home in a passenger SUV:
-
18-inch alloy wheels
-
Heated and powered front seats
-
Powered tailgate
-
9-inch touchscreen infotainment system
-
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
-
Toyota Safety Sense driver assist features
Whether you’re hauling tools to a job site or towing equipment through the countryside, this is a commercial vehicle that blends ruggedness with refinement.

Pricing and Positioning
The Land Cruiser Commercial will start at £52,729 in the UK, positioning it as a premium yet practical option for buyers who traditionally turned to pickups, 4x4s, or converted vans. For rural businesses, utility fleets, or anyone needing go-anywhere capability with lower running costs, it’s shaping up to be a compelling choice.
