Here’s a handy overview of the main support available for UK fleets looking to switch to electric vans.

Purchase and vehicle grants

The Plug‑in Van Grant (PIVG) is available to help reduce the upfront cost of electric vans. For example, the UK Government offers up to £2,500 for small electric vans (under ~2.5 tonnes) and up to £5,000 for larger ones (up to ~4.25 tonnes) under the current scheme.
The grant scheme has been extended until at least 2027, which gives fleet operators longer-term certainty.

Infrastructure & charging support

To make electric van deployment viable, you’ll need to think about charging. The Government has committed funding for depot charging infrastructure, including a scheme to help install chargepoints at business depots.

Operating cost / tax benefits & fleet advantages

Switching to electric vans can bring lower running costs (fuel & maintenance), exemption or lower charges in low-emission zones and potentially improved brand credentials.
