Fiat Professional launches new E-Doblo

Introduction

Sky TV has an ambition to be net zero by 2030 and as part of this programme they have ordered a number of Renault Kangoo Z.E.’s which are the first 100 per cent electric commercial vehicles to enter the fleet.

The company is Europe’s leading direct to consumer media and entertainment company and they have ordered 11 Renault Kangoo Z.E. vans to its operations, which will the company’s very first battery electric commercial vehicles. According to SKY, approximately 34 per cent of the company’s carbon emissions originate in its supply chain, and to help mitigate this issue the Kangoo Z.E.s will provide invaluable insight on how battery electric commercials can significantly lower this and make a contribution to achieving their net zero emissions by the end of the decade.

Kangoo ZE’s in England Scotland

The vans will be primarily based at Sky’s Isleworth UK headquarters to support its local sites but also working further afield at Chilworth technology centre within the University of Southampton Science Park. The remainder will be deployed at Sky’s Scotland sites in Livingston, Dunfermline and Uddingston. They will be used for various roles within the companies facilities department including duties such as cleaning to decorating and catering to mail distribution.

Sky had a Kangoo ZE initially on test and chose it based on the range of up to 143 miles (WLTP), its size and positive driver feedback. They replace diesel vans and help Sky understand the impact and possibilities of making the transition to all-electric power for its UK fleet of over 4,000 diesel vans.

95 chargers all in one place

Of course one of the main issues with electric vans is organising the charging and SKY appears to have this very much under control with its Osterley facility now boasting 95 chargers, although they are continuing to install more chargers at more sites. Interestingly the vehicle will all be charged using renewable energy sources at on-site charging points.
