Toyota Proace City preview

Introduction
The Toyota Proace City is the upcoming small panel van from Toyota, which is due to hit UK dealerships in the spring of 2020 and was previewed at last year’s CV Show. Based on the Peugeot Partner and Citroen Berlingo, the Toyota Proace City is available in two wheelbases and payloads.
Toyota Proace City specifications

As it is based one on the newest vans in the segment, the little Toyota van benefits from a whole host of benefits that are standard across the range like lane keep assist, pre-collision system, road sign assist, cruise control and a ‘break warning’ that recommends the drive take a short rest.
Specifications have still yet to be announced but flagship models will feature eight-inch touchscreens with across to audio and smartphone functions, MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay (including Siri assistant) and Android Auto (including Google assistant), plus Bluetooth, and USB auxiliary connections.
Toyota Proace City engine and driveline

The new van is propelled by a choice of either a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel, with outputs of between 75hp and 130hp. These engines will be coupled to either a 5-speed or 6-speed manual, or an 8-speed automatic. The newly-developed engines are extremely fuel-efficient, achieving up to 65.7mpg on the combined NEDC cycle.
Weights and measures
There two wheelbases provide load lengths of 1,817mm and 2,167mm and load volumes of 3.3 and 3.9 cubic metres. However items of up to 3,090mm (L1) and 3,440mm (L2) in length can be accommodated thanks to the load-through facility in the bulkhead.
In terms of weights, there are two nominal gross vehicle weights (GVWs). Standard 2.0t models have a payload of between 660kg and 680kg, and the more heavy-duty 2.4t models offer greater payloads of up to 1.0t.
Like the Peugeot Expert and Citroen Berlingo, the Proace City features the intelligent ‘Smart Load Indicator’ which alerts the driver when 90 per cent of the maximum weight is reached and then again when they are overloading.
Price and availability

Prices have yet to be announced, but they’re expected to vary between around £16,000 to £21,000 plus VAT. They will be available to purchase from Toyota dealers from around April 2020 and will be backed by a reputable 5-year, 100,000 mile warranty.
